Arthur D. Smith, age 96, of Elba, Alabama, departed this life on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Elba Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be held at Whitewater Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Richard Collier officiating.

Mr. Smith was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose life was marked by steady dedication and quiet strength. He retired after 42 years of service as an Inspector with Dorsey Trailer Manufacturing, where he was respected for his work ethic and reliability.

He is survived by his son, Dean (Pam) Smith of Elba, AL; daughter-in-law, Jan Smith of Elba, AL; and his grandchildren: Dina (Marritt) Dorriety, Hartford, AL; Dusty (Heather) Smith, Iron City, GA; DeAnn (Neil) Grantham, Elba, AL; Alison (Zach) Bradley, Troy, AL. He also leaves behind a loving legacy of great grandchildren: Morgan (Chase) Stuckey, Thomasville, AL; Beth Ann Smith, Iron City, GA; Drew Smith, Iron City, GA; Parrish Grantham, Elba, AL; Asher Bradley, Troy, AL; Olivia Bradley, Troy, AL; and a great great grandson, Conrad Dean Stuckey, Thomasville, AL.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Audrey Pastine Smith, and by his son Dennis Smith. A man of humility, loyalty, and deep family devotion, Mr. Smith will be remembered for the steady presence he provided across nearly a century of life. His legacy lives on in the generations who follow him.
