It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Benjimin Renat Falvo, age 20, a resident of Elba, Alabama. Benji departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2026, while swimming with his family at Whitewater Creek in Elba. What began as a day filled with joy and laughter in a peaceful setting on the banks of Whitewater Creek soon turned tragic when Benji lost his ability to navigate the flowing current. His “hero,” Dave, jumped in to save him and lost his life also during the struggle.
Benji will be remembered as a bright light within his family, and his passing has left a tremendous void. He loved everybody, never had a bad day, and his joyful personality was contagious to those he came in contact with. He enjoyed dancing, dressing up, and being “fancy”—the more sparkly the outfit, the better he liked it. Benji enjoyed being outdoors and was particularly fond of his animals. One constant in his life was his love for E.T. and Goosebumps books. Watching E.T. and curling up to read his books was part of his daily routine. Benji was one of God’s special gifts and will be remembered as kind, joyful, extremely funny, and for the purity within his heart.
Surviving to cherish his precious memories are his mother, Maria Ann Falvo, Elba, AL; brother, Michael Falvo Jr., Brooksville, FL; brother, Sasha Falvo, Elba, AL; sister, Giana Maria Falvo, Elba, AL; sister, Isabella Falvo, Elba, AL; sister, Taiya Falvo, Elba, AL; sister, Arabella Falvo, Elba, AL; sister, Tatiana Falvo, Elba, AL; along with his maternal grandmother, Theresa Broderick, Elba, AL; aunt, Gabriella Broderick; uncle, Ryan Kolwicz of Weeki Wachee, FL; and nephew, Vincent Falvo of Brooksville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Anthony Falvo, along with his hero and a man who became a father figure to him, David Thomas Rubright.
Memorial services honoring the lives of Benji and Dave will be held on July 18, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
