Billy Mack Gibbs, 79, of Elba, Alabama passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on September 28, 2023.  Billy is preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Hazel Gibbs and his brother, James Robert Gibbs.
He is survived by his loving bride Sara F. Gibbs of Elba, Alabama, who was affectionately referred to as Sadie or Sapphire, daughter Deyon G. Brown (Keith) of Bon Secour, AL, granddaughter, Lindsey Spicer (Hayes) of Mobile, AL; grandson Hayden Brown (Erin) of Bon Secour, AL; and two unborn great-grandsons, who he fondly nicknamed Mutt and Jeff; Sisters, Mary Shiree of Lawrenceville, GA; and Sharon Letlow of Salem, AL; many nieces and nephews, and Bobby G, his beloved cat, who was always by his side.
Billy, fondly known as "Pa", was born in Elba, Alabama on March 19, 1944, to Douglas and Hazel Gibbs and had a remarkable life. He graduated from Elba City School, then proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. Billy dedicated 37 years to the oil field industry and worked many overseas assignments. He was honestly a "jack of all trades" and "master of many."  Billy and Sara were high school sweethearts and were married for 60 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and RV trips with his grandkids to Lake Eufaula. Billy had a soft spot for feeding the backyard deer. Family meant everything to him, especially his beautiful daughter Deyon. He will be extremely missed this deer season as it will not be the same without him.
Our family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Dyess and Dr. Rao for overseeing his medical care for many years. Their support and unwavering commitment to Billy's health will always be remembered and cherished.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, beginning at 4:00 P.M. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Elba with Kim Dyess officiating.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 3:00 P.M. until service time.
