Carolyn Deal
Miles
d. Jul 9, 2025
Woodstock
Carolyn Deal Miles, aged 84, of Woodstock, GA, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Born and raised in the close-knit community of Elba, Alabama, she was the cherished only child of Roscoe and Eva Deal. Carolyn's early years were filled with horseback riding, art, and playing both the piano and organ for her church.
After graduating from Elba High School, Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Paul Miles, and pursued higher education at Howard College, now known as Samford University, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. She dedicated herself to teaching in the Birmingham Public Schools while Paul completed his Pediatric Residency. The couple later moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where Carolyn was an active member of her church and the Huntsville Medical Auxiliary. Upon retirement, they relocated to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and later to Dothan, Alabama.
Carolyn's artistic spirit was evident in all aspects of her life, from painting and gardening to decorating her home with antiques and cooking family meals. Her love for elegance and entertaining brought joy to her family and friends, creating lasting memories. Her sweet Persian cats were her daily companions, spreading love to those around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Paul, and two loving children: John Miles (Lisa) and Elizabeth Weatherly (Hunter), along with her three grandchildren: Paul Miles (Victoria), Madeline Miles, and Elise Weatherly. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts she touched.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Hayes Funeral Home in Elba, AL, followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
