Clifton Carter 85 of Elba, AL departed this life Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his daughter's home in Goshen, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at Haw Hill Assembly of God Church on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Shirlie Ellis officiating. Committal services will follow in the Haw Hill Church Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Haw Hill Assembly of God Church on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Mr. Carter will lie-in-state in the church one hour prior to services on Sunday.

Mr. Carter will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He retired from Dorsey Trailers as a welder after an extended career and kept on farming and tending the land he loved. He was a man of tremendous faith, and never wavered in sharing his love for his Lord, and the blessings that had been bestowed upon him.

Survivors include: Daughter - Julie (Chad) Hughes, Goshen, AL, Son - Buddy (Jeana) Carter, Jack, AL, Son - James Carter, Elba, AL, Sister - Janaria (Jerry) Scoggins, Ozark, AL, Granddaughter - Danielle Helms, Jack, AL, Grandson - Adam Carter, Dothan, AL, Grandson - Ethan Carter, Jack, AL, Grandson - Jacob Smith, Jack, AL, Grandson - Tanner Smith, Troy, AL, and Granddaughter - Marilee Hughes of Goshen, AL, and Grandson - Preston Hughes, also of Goshen, Alabama. He is also survived by Great Grandson - Hunter Helms, and Great Granddaughter - Madalyn Helms, of Jack, Alabama, along with six nieces, and six nephews.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynell Carter, brother, Charles Carter, brother, Kenneth earl Carter, along with two infant twin brothers.
