David Allen “Jimmy” Hutchison, age 74, a resident of Elba, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at his home.

Funeral services will be held from Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kenneth Hagler officiating. Jimmy was a proud graduate of Zion Chapel High School and retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer after 29 years of dedicated service. He was an avid Crimson Tide fan and enjoyed spending time watching NASCAR too. Above all, Jimmy truly loved his family. The youngest of eight children, he was the self‑proclaimed “favorite” of the bunch. To his nieces and nephews, he was simply “Uncle Jimmy,” remaining closely involved in their lives—celebrating their accomplishments and walking beside them through difficult moments. He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Hutchison leaves behind his nephews: Scotty Cain, Ken Johnson, Mickey Murden, Tim Hutchison, Tom Hutchison, Perry Flowers, Chris Flowers, and David Flowers; along with his nieces: Amanda Flowers, Phyllis Sasser, Cindy Miller, Kathleen Harden, Pam Ramey, and Susan Parrish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Elise and Willie Bethel Hutchison, along with his beloved siblings: Peggy Cain, Betty Murden, Willadean Hutchison, Annette Kelley, Jeanette Johnson, Elizabeth Hutchison, and Erskine Hutchison.
