Debra Bradshaw Gentile, age 65, of New Brockton, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on October 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family as she departed this life with the same grace, strength, and humor that defined her journey.
Born on November 3, 1959, Debra lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, and unwavering selflessness. She touched countless lives with her kindness and resilience, offering love and encouragement to everyone she encountered. Her unforgettable sense of humor and steadfast spirit carried her and those around her through life's challenges, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends alike.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, JT Bowers; her mother, Wanda Rathbone; and her brother, Jeffery Bowers.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Gentile; her children, Jay Bradshaw (Latasha), Joy Smith (Jeramy), and Carrie Tevis (Mark); her father, Vernon Rathbone; her sister, Lisa Deal; and her brother, Greg Bowers (Tammy). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Roderick Smith (Angela), Tykeira Williams (Stedman), Cymona Simmons, Dakota Anderson (Gabby), Calvin Phillips (Morgan), Randi Phillips (Coltin), Emily Campbell (Alex), and Abigail Tevis; five great-grandchildren; a host of special nieces and nephews; and many close friends whom she considered family.
Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at New Brockton City Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the home of Debra and Jerry to share memories and fellowship.
The family will be receiving flowers at Hayes Funeral Home of Elba, Alabama. They would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Southern Care Hospice of Enterprise, AL, for their compassionate care and support during Debra's final days.
May Debra rest in eternal peace, free from pain, and may her memory forever shine as a light of love and hope in the lives of those she leaves behind.
