Jeff
Wise
Apr 19, 1956 — Jul 3, 2026
David Jeffrey "Jeff" Wise, age 70, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 3, 2026. His sudden passing has brought deep sorrow to his family, friends, and all who were blessed to share in his life. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Marler officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Mill Assembly of God Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM.
Born and raised in Elba, Jeff was a 1974 graduate of Elba High School, where he formed friendships that would last a lifetime. He later earned his Bachelor's Degree from Troy State University, an accomplishment he was proud of and one that helped shape the direction of his adult life. Though his career and responsibilities eventually led him to Montgomery, Jeff's heart never left Elba. He maintained close ties with his hometown friends, cherishing the familiar conversations, shared interests, and the sense of belonging that only lifelong friendships can provide. Those who knew him best often remarked that Jeff had a gift for making people feel welcome, understood, and appreciated.
Jeff was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and purpose in God's creation. Whether walking through the woods, sitting quietly near the water, or simply taking in the beauty of a sunrise, he felt closest to the Lord when surrounded by nature. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies for him—they were restorative rituals that grounded him and brought him joy. His appreciation for the outdoors was matched only by his love for the golf course. Many friends will remember Jeff from the rounds they shared together, enjoying both the game and the fellowship. He remained active and continued to play several times each week, finding camaraderie and contentment in every swing.
Above all, Jeff was devoted to his family. He leaves behind his sons, Jamie (Cheyenne) Wise of Taneytown, Maryland, and Hunter (Tori) Wise of New Brockton, Alabama, both of whom he loved deeply and supported proudly. His grandson, David Wise of New Brockton, brought him tremendous joy, and Jeff cherished every moment spent watching him grow. He is also survived by his mother, Sibyl Wise of Elba; his sister, Becky Morris of Jack; and his brother, Dan Wise of Hartselle, and a nephew, Matt Morris of Jack. Each of them carries memories of Jeff's kindness, humor, and steady presence. He was preceded in death by his father, W. Jimmy Wise, whose legacy Jeff honored throughout his life.
Jeff Wise will be remembered as a man who valued friendship, embraced the outdoors, and lived with a quiet strength that touched many lives. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, yet his influence will continue through the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the love he gave so freely.
Hayes Funeral Home of Elba, Alabama is honored to serve the Wise family.
