Jerry Jones

Jerry Lomax Jones, age 79, a resident of the Goodman Community, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Memorial services will be held at Goodman Baptist Church on Sunday, July 12, 2026, beginning at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Shane Traylor and Rev. Bruce Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Goodman Cemetery Fund, c/o 463 County Road 633, Enterprise, Alabama 36330.

Jerry was a 1965 graduate of Enterprise High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Troy State University. He retired as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service after decades of dedicated service. He also served his country in the United States Army Reserves and faithfully served as a deacon at Goodman Baptist Church for much of his adult life. His faith was the cornerstone of his character, and he led as a Godly example of what a husband, father, grandfather, and friend should be.

Jerry found joy and purpose in his daily work on the farm, always giving glory to the Lord for every bountiful harvest. He will be remembered as a genuine friend—one you could count on in both the good times and the hard ones. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of those he loved most.

Jerry would have celebrated his 51st anniversary on July 25th with his bride and soulmate, Freda Jones. He is also survived by his children: Justin (Joni) Jones of Loxley, AL; Jeremy (Dorothy) Jones of Dallas, TX; and Jessica Redfield of Enterprise, AL. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Anna Jones, Abby Jones, Jacub Jones, Kaleb Jones, Colynn Jones, Jaylee Redfield, Bekham Jones, and Jayla Redfield. Jerry and Freda were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their ninth grandchild, Jrue Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Pearl and Louie Frank Jones, and by his sister, Doris Coles.
