Joshua Craig Prettyman, age 45, a resident of Elba, Alabama, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at his home.

Memorial services will be held from Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 13, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM with Rev. Phillip Adcock officiating. The family will receive friends at Hayes Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.

Josh was a remarkable man—easy to talk to, full of knowledge, and gifted with a natural ability to connect with others. He loved anything fast and never allowed a life-altering injury to slow him down. Whether riding his motorcycle or driving a lifted truck, he embraced life with determination and grit.

He will be remembered for his exceptional carpentry skills and his talent for finding practical solutions to everyday problems. His wheelchair never defined him; instead, he pushed past every limitation and could often be found on the jobsite assisting his dad and brothers with whatever task needed doing.

Josh also enjoyed puzzles and spent countless hours mastering some of the most challenging and intricate designs imaginable. He recently built a special table to accommodate his latest project—and proudly completed it shortly before his passing.

He leaves behind his siblings: Robert (Kimberly) Cullum, Ezekiel (Pricilla) Prettyman, Brandie (Elwood) Johnson, Tyra (CJ) Spahlinger, Brianna Prettyman, and Selina (Adam) Martinelli.

Josh's world was forever changed by the early loss of his brother, Jeremiah, in 2012; his mother, Janice, in 2022; and ultimately his father, Gregg, in 2023. Though each loss weighed heavily on him, losing his dad was especially difficult. In burying his father, he also buried his best friend—his "ride-or-die" partner.
