Obituary

Faye Holliday went home to her Lord and Savior Monday, October 26, 2026. She lived

90 very full and happy years on this earth. Faye was a steadfast Christian and loved all

people - her family, her friends, and strangers she met. Raised during the depression,

she never wasted a thing, and had compassion for anyone less fortunate.

Back in the 50’s, she took pride in being “Miss Sallie”, when she was with her husband

Leon stationed in Virginia. She was very good at typing and shorthand, and so she

became the right hand to the general on base. She and Leon wound up in Ft. Rucker,

Alabama, after he finished his service with the army, becoming a civilian air traffic

controller. And, so, they made their life in southeast Alabama, first in Enterprise then

settling in the rural outskirts of Elba in the Woodland Grove community. Her children

were in Elba City Schools, and so she found a calling at the Elba Clipper. For many

years in the 70’s, at Elba High, she was “Ms. Faye from the Clipper”, when she came

each week to take pictures for the school page. She enjoyed those days very much.

Faye loved her church family - the New Brockton United Methodist Church, now

Cornerstone. She and Leon gave of their time, talents and resources all through the

years for the church. Her faith was the bedrock of her life.

She was a giving and generous person. She found children on Sunday mornings and

offered them a ride to church. She stopped at shacks to knock on the door and see if

the resident needed anything. Whatever she had she wanted to share.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Julia Lynn Holliday LaRue (Wayne); grandchildren

Brandon Holliday, Sarah Holliday, Wesley Dietrich (Sopan Deb), and Will LaRue; one

great grandson Kiran Lee Deb Dietrich; and sister, Bernice Taylor. She was

predeceased by her husband, Henry Leon Holliday; son, Steven Leon Holliday; and

brother, Hildred Bernard Harrelson.

Celebration of Life services will be held at New Brockton Cornerstone Church on Saturday, November 7, 2026 with Mr. Ken English officiating. Family will receive visitors from 9a - 10a. Service will commence at 10a. Burial will take place in Repton, Alabama, at Baggett’s Chapel at 1p.
