Sherry Dodson Young age 73, a resident of Elba, Alabama departed this life Saturday, December 7, 2024 at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.  Memorial services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 12, 2024 beginning at 2:00 PM Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In lieu of food and flowers, the family request those wishing to make memorials, to do so to the Taylor Creel Stinson Scholarship. Checks may be made out to the University of Alabama and mailed to Box 870101, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487.  Please write "Taylor Creel Stinson Scholarship" on the memo line. Gifts may also be made electronically to this link: Sherry leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Tonya (Joe) Creel, New Brockton, AL, her son - Kevin (Shannon) Bryan, Troy, AL, along with grandchildren, Addyson Bryan, Caden Bryan, and Trenton Bryan of Troy, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora Nell Hamm Dodson and James Gilbert Dodson, an infant son, Johnothan; along with a granddaughter, Taylor Creel, and two brothers, James and Houston Dodson.
