Troy Edward Owens, 87 of Elba, AL, peacefully departed this life Saturday, November 30, 2024, at his home in Elba, Alabama. Funeral services will be held from Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dustin Wisecarver and Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Committal services will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to a charity of your choice or to the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Fund, 4408 County Road 223, Elba, AL 36323.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty years, Gladys Chandler Owens, and after her passing, his second wife of eleven years, Judy Eldridge Owens, as well as three siblings, Frederick Sherman Owens, Robert Lamar Owens, and Betty Jean Jones.

Survivors include: Daughter - Villa (Ronny) Danford, Wetumpka, AL; Daughter - Renae (Tim) Summerlin, Northport, AL; Granddaughter - Kim (James) Fuller, Wilsonville, AL; Granddaughter - Kayla Danford, Wetumpka, AL; Grandson - Joseph Summerlin, Nashville, TN; Grandson - Jacob Summerlin, Chattanooga, TN; Great Grandchildren- Patrick Fuller, Abigail Fuller,  Annalee Fuller, Olivia Fuller, Jameson Fuller, Jalyn Danford, and sisters Pauline Isbell and Camellia Sims.

Troy spent his forty-year career as an aircraft electrician at Ft. Rucker, where he also made many friends.  He enjoyed working on his farm, and even as his health declined, his best days were those where he slipped out and climbed on his tractor just to clean up around the place a little bit.   Friends and neighbors remember him as a hard-working man who was always willing to lend a hand. He had a dry wit and the ability to pull a prank or make a joke in any situation.  We cannot mourn his passing without remembering a time he brought a smile and a chuckle that ended in everyone just shaking their heads.
